How does the system know which wines I should be drinking now? How can I change the Mature/Drink/Hold values?
Here is the meaning of the Mature, Drink, Hold values:
Mature: the wine may show some signs of aging, you should start drinking it.
Drink: the wine is possibly at its best, you can drink it now.
Hold: the wine is still young and if you have some good storage conditions, you may want to cellar it.
Drink/Mature: the transition state between Drink and Mature.
Hold/Drink: the state between Hold and Drink.

If you like young and fruity wines, you may enjoy wines that have a maturity of Hold/Drink or even Hold. On the other hand, if you like mature wines, you may want to wait until the maturity is Drink/Mature or even Mature.

To customize these values, specify your own drinkability window by adding a rating. To add a rating, click the "Rate this Wine" button.
- In the "Best From Through" fields, indicate a "From Year" and a "To Year".
- If today's date is between the 2 years, this will set the maturity to Drink
- If it is before the "From Year" the maturity will be set to Hold
- If it is after the "To Year", the maturity will be set to Mature.

You can enter your own drinkability window or what is recommended in the winemaker's notes, or what has been published by a wine critic.

If no drinkability window has been specified for a wine, default data based on the appellation, varietal and vintage is used.
