"According to La Revue du Vin de France: Phillipe Alliet is… "le plus grand producteur de vins rouges de la Loire." And even if you know no French, the meaning is pretty clear. Philippe is a cousin of another great Loire winemaker, Christophe Baudry. Both make their cabernet franc-based reds in a dark, concentrated brooding style (these are NOT simple quaffers!! also, some new oak is used). If you are a fan of simply prepared steak, served with or without frites, you could do worse, a lot worse, than to accompany your repast with one of Alliet's concentrated, broad shouldered reds. "
