"Seems older than 10 years old. Light brick color, delicate aromas on the nose of violets and red cherries. Light to medium-bodied on the palate and sightly acid and a medium finish."

"Silvano Casiraghi is a lot like us, he had 22 years in the wine business as an import export agent but always wanted to produce his own wine. In 1992 after years of searching for the right opportunity he found the perfect estate in the heart of Barolo. Only here in these stratified layers of tufo and sand can the grape produce the wines of size, structure and flavor that made them famous. In the Barolo commune of Monforte d'Alba lies one of the most impressive vineyard sites in all of Barolo, Bussia Soprana. His 10 acres of prime Barolo vineyards with an average age of 25-30 years produce low yields on the southerly facing slopes. He is a traditionalist when it merits, a modernist when intellect directs and above all a lover of wine. This 1995 is full of exotic aromatics, complex and delicate, not the primary fruit character that fills many California wines but hints, wafts, traces of truffle, rose, leather, violets, pepper, raspberry, tar and pepper. This is a wine to be enjoyed with food - the complex union of food and wine will produce an experience greater than its parts. We recommend a series of different dishes that would work perfectly; Risotto with Porcini Mushrooms or if in season with Truffles or White Truffle Oil; Brasato al Barolo and decant the wine 2 hours ahead of time."
