"About a mile from the vineyard of Csontos, along the south facing slopes overlooking Erdobeny Bott maintains 1.5 ha of vines in the classed vineyard of Határi (15ha). A portion of this is planted to Hárslevel? which the Budo’s have found prefers rocky sites, the rest Furmint. The 20-25 degree terraced slope is volcanic rhyolite-tufa, overlaid by clay with rocks of obsidian, limestone and chalk. Naturally restrictive growing conditions and an average vine age of 40 years keep yields at typically 4-5 bunches per plant. After a intermittently wet growing season the area was blessed by an ideal Indian summer and the family (Jozef, Judit and her father) hand harvested lusciously ripe Hárslevel? botrytis free and in excellent condition. At the winery the fruit was pressed in their traditional wooden Hungarian press. Fermentation was completed in 3rd use 220 liter barrels by native yeast over a period of 6 weeks. It remained in barrel for a total of 9 months. Only 47 case of the wine were bottled after fining and a gentle filtering. Powerfully aromatic with ripe aromas of pineapples and peaches that think they are flowers, the mind anticipates sweet but the wine is as bouncy as it is voluminous with an almost smokey minerality and just a kiss of sugar on the finish."
