"I have been especially impressed by some of Paul Schandl's work with the pinot family, as well as by his Ausbruche. But this year, additional aspects of his talent, as well as of the potential of the family's vineyards, were also in evidence."

"The town or Rust is located on the Eastern shore of Lake Neusiedlersee in the larger growing region of Hugelland (hill land), in south eastern Austria. The large shallow lake tempers the regions continental climate, by stabilizing the temperature and the mist that forms on it. It is perhaps most famous for its sweet wine, Ruster Ausbruch. The subsoil with its crystalline primary rock and limestone composition is ideal for Burgundian varieties. This Pinot Blanc showcases a classic Burgundian bouquet, delicate and spicy, strong on the palate, muscular yet balanced with pronounced fruit and racy acidity that carries through to the long and spicy finish. "Aromatic nose with white flower notes. Crisp, sligthly bubbly on the palate. Caramel aftertaste."
