"According to the L.A. Times: Philippe Alliet is coming on strong in the Loire Valley, part of a new generation of winemakers who are very serious about what they're doing both in the cellar and in the vineyard. His Chinon is a very pure expression of Cabernet Franc. Beautifully balanced, the 2004 Chinon is spicy and delicious, weaving together ripe, juicy fruit with smooth tannins and a lively acidity. It's a versatile food wine that goes with just about anything from a simple roast bird or a couple of chops to braised duck legs or wine-soaked daubes. Keep a look out for the Alliet Chinon Vieilles Vignes too, which should be showing up on the shelves soon."
