"The opaque purple-colored 2003 Syrah Thompson Vineyard offers aromas of graphite, creme de cassis, blackberries, and smoky charcoal. Possessing exceptional intensity, richness, and balance, this seamless Syrah can be drunk now and over the next 10-12 years.
Adam Tolmach always does a spectacular job with the Thompson Vineyard Syrah, and his inky/purple-tinged 2003 is a terrific effort. Peppery, meaty, sweet cassis and blackberry scents are accompanied by layers of flavors, including tar, black tea, forest floor, and barrique. Dense, powerful, potent, and beautifully layered and long, it requires 1-2 years of bottle age, and should drink well for 12-15. "
