"This impeccably run family estate is located in the village of Larnage, about 2 miles north of the 300-acre vineyard of Hermitage. Larnage is the closest of the 11 villages that make up the appellation of Crozes-Hermitage. The Belle family farms 18 hectare (54 acres) of vines and 10 hectare (25 acres) of apricots. They were members of the co-op in Tain-Hermitage, but in 1988, after Philippe had completed his education in Montpellier, they began to make their own wine at their new winery. The white varietals are planted just above the famous vineyard of Les Pierrelles which is located below Hermitage and are covered with small calcareous/limestone granite pebbles. The higher elevation allows for a slightly longer growing season due to the cooler zone and the grapes retain wonderful acidity. The average vine age here is 20 years old. The 2006 Blanc is composed of 70% Marsanne & 30% Roussanne. It is 100% destemmed and crafted using a combination of 40% stainless steel, 30% new oak & 30% 1 year-old barrels. It is bottled unfiltered. 13%abv."
