93 points " Old-fashioned, this full-bodied traditional wine seduces with its decadent game, saddle-leather, plum and sautéed wild mushroom aromas. No hint of fancy oak, just a mouthful of Châteauneuf character that swirls around to a long, sweet finish." Best 2003-2008

91 points "Spicy and peppery, this is an outstanding Chateauneuf from Guigal. Bursting with flavor, this has some game around the edges of gorgeous, sweet fruit, and enough structure for aging. I am not always a big fan of Guigal's Chateauneufs, but this is a beauty. Opened with some two dozen wines from various regions, this may well have been my favorite for its combination of pure flavor and velvety texture. About $30. 91 points"

87 points "Dough and sweet earth notes lend a slightly firm feel to the roasted plum and currant fruit, which runs through the finish, but turns rigidly tannic. A bit of a gamble to see if it will soften before the fruit fades. Drink now through 2016. 20,000 cases made." Best -2016
