"Overall: weak; Despite the high praise by Mr. Parker, I wasn't impressed with it. I prefer a richer wine, this one came off thin. "

"Color: deep; Nose: complex; Aromas: black berry; Acidity: supple; Sweetness: dry; Body: firm; Finish: persistent; In a blind tasting I would have called this a malbec. Definite earthy barnyard odors. Smooth, not as full-bodied as you might expect from a rhone, a bit of tannins but went well with the steak. I enjoyed this but I have had better."

"Dough and sweet earth notes lend a slightly firm feel to the roasted plum and currant fruit, which runs through the finish, but turns rigidly tannic. A bit of a gamble to see if it will soften before the fruit fades. Drink now through 2016. 20,000 cases made."

""... the 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape... has the potential to be the finest Chateauneuf Guigal has produced. It reveals more power, richness, and intensity than any previous vintage, including the highly regarded 2000 and 1998. The deep ruby-hued 2003 reveals a big, sweet bouquet of kirsch, black currants, exotic Asian spices, and pepper. Made in a full-bodied, unctuous style with high glycerin as well as alcohol, it should offer lovely drinking upon release." - (90-94) - The Wine Advocate by Robert M. Parker Jr - 12/04"
