"This, the first 2008 Evening Land wine to be released, really shows its French guiding hand -- beautiful acidity and structure -- but with earthy Oregon fruit and aromas. Lafon is not interested in recreating the texture of Burgundy (nor should he be- this is Oregon, after all!) This wine has a bold mid-palate, delicious blackberry, black cherry, red plum and wild strawberry focused in a well balanced and richly textured package. Here, Old World enhances New World. And I should add, since I'm just back from a trip to the "Old World," stay tuned for some fantastic features on Burgundy in the near future. In the meantime, raise a glass to Evening Land!
