" This fine, old, head pruned, dry farmed vineyard sits on sandy soil just west of Oakley in the shadow of Mt. Diablo. Contra Costa County is located 40 miles east of San Francisco and 30 miles south of the Napa Valley. The vines that produced these grapes are "new" plantings for the Continente family, being only 50 to 100 years old whereas other parts of the vineyard were planted as far back as 1878. This wine exhibits rich chocolate plum and cherry character in the bouquet with ripe black currants and hints of exotic spices and plums in the flavors. This wine will nicely complement hearty stews, grilled meats and southwestern cuisine."
