"With the 2000 vintage Scavino has reached a new level of excellence, as hard as that may seem to believe. The 2000 Bric del Fiasc is simply awesome. Blessed with masses of dark ripe fruit, terrific concentration and notable structure it is another great version of this wine. The relatively high level of alcohol of the vintage is present, but superbly well-balanced by the wine’s other elements. Surprisingly, it comes across as much less accessible than the 2001 and may be entering a period of dormancy. 95/Anticipated maturity: 2010-2025. (AG). Very, very ripe fruit, with strawberries and plums galore. Turns to Indian spices and cedar. Full-bodied, with an exquisite palate of ultraripe tannins that turn to velvet. Long, long finish. Cashmere. Great from barrel, great from bottle. This is the best Bric dël Fiasc ever. Best after 2010. 875 cases made. (JS) Top 100: 2004, Rank: 4"
