"2001 was our inaugural vintage. I love zinfandel so I set out to find a vineyard in Sonoma. However, I found 2; one in Dry Creek Valley, the other in Russian River Valley. I decided to take fruit from each one. Both vineyards are only in their second year of production, going on their third. This wine is a blend of the 2 vineyards. Going forward we have chosen the Dry Creek Vineyard which will be represented in the 2002 Zin. But, for our first vintage this wine is perfect. Velvety mouth feel, nice rich flavor, not over ripe, over powering fruit. Beautifully balanced. Aged for 13 months in neutral oak barrels, unfined and unfiltered, 100% Zinfandel."
