"This 10-hectar estate is now run for the most part by Virna, the daughter of the original proprietor Ludovico Borgogno. Together, this father and daughter team fashion five traditional Piedmontesi red wines. The Barbera comes from the San Giovanni vineyard in the village of Monforte d'Alba. Maceration and fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with brief ageing (six months) in neutral wood. This is fresh, bright Barbera, as evidenced by the vivid ruby/red color and intensely fruity nose. On the palate, medium bodied with red fruit and ample acidity, and just enough structure to pair well with game, red meat and pungent cheeses. A terrific everyday red."
