" Chandon de Brialles can be said to be old-fashioned, in the best sense of that term. While fashion has swung to dark, oaky, extracted wines, the ladies at Chando de Brialles have resolutely gone against the grain. They use no new oak, and make wines of delicacy and elegance rather than heavy and extracted wines. As a consequence, the color is a bit lighter, and the terroir sings out very clearly. The Corton Bressandes is an excellent example. Compared to the one from Tollot Beaut, it is light in color and less tannic. But, that does not mean it is lacking Grand Cru poer. Rather, it has restraint, and elegant fruit that hits you first. Then you realize their is a lot more here than first seen, as it lingers on your plate for a very long time and shows you the focus and power you are looking for.
