" This has the brightest and most lovely fruit of all of Roty's village Gevreys, with great concentration and lots of length. It really is fruit-driven and showing most opulently. When we tasted at Roty's in March, Philippe chose to pour it after both the Brunelles and Champs Chenys. Since he always works his way carefully up the hierarchy, you can clearly see how the winemaker thinks it is showing. Some earlier reviewers liked this less than the Marsannay, so this is a strong statement on Philip[pe's part. (Keith Wollenberg, K&L Burgundy Buyer, 03/04) Steve Tanzer writes: "Good bright ruby. Very pure, vibrant aromas of blackberry, violet and bitter chocolate, plus a hint of game. Sweet and chewy in the mouth, with flavors of dark fruits, licorice and minerals. Showing more texture today than the Marsannay Ouzelois. Finishes with noticeable oak tannins and lingering notes of licorice and spice." (International Wine Cellar, 01/03)"
