"La Diligence Syrah is a spectacular wine, possibly the most exciting we have tasted all year! A joint venture between two exceptional producers - Dave Miner from the Napa Valley and François Villard from the northern Rhône in France, La Diligence is produced entirely from fruit from Napa’s famed Stagecoach Vineyard (“la diligence” means “the stagecoach” in French). What a wonderful wine this is – the deep, inky, ruby, purple, almost black color nearly stains the glass, and the glorious nose of bacon fat, smoke, minerals, subtle spice, black fruits, truffles and vanilla is amazing. On the palate the full, lush, fleshy, deep, dark fruit with smoky bacon nuances are such a pleasure that you almost don’t want to swallow. The minerally finish is so long and intense it seems as if we can still taste it several minutes later. Only 500 cases were produced of this beauty – don’t miss it!"

The deep ruby/purple-colored 2005 La Diligence Stagecoach Vineyard exhibits scents of tapenade, black cherries, smoke, and earth. Rich, complex, and medium to full-bodied with a layered mouthfeel, this impressive Syrah should age easily for a decade or more."
