"The 2003 is our first ever varietal Viognier, and the first vintage we've been truly happy with this notoriously tricky grape. After fermentaion in small stainless steel tanks, we moved the bulk of the juice to neutral barrels for malolactic fermentation, and then blended back another 20% of Viognier that had seen only stainless steel. The resulting wine was bottled in May 2004. This is a pale green-gold wine with a flowery jasmine and honeysuckle nose. It is crisp and dry, yet round on the palate, with bright stone fruit, structure and depth, moderate acidity, and a long peachy finish. It will be at its peak in the next two years."
