"For several generations, Château Rieussec has been a leading name in Sauternes wines. As early as 1868, Charles Cocks remarked that "Beyond any of the others, Rieussec produces wines that are very similar to Yquem wines." Sémillon 95%, Muscadelle 2% and Sauvignon 3%. Length of ageing in oak barrels : 18 to 26 months depending on the year, including 55% in new barrels."

""If Chateau d'Yquem is the Ferrari of Sauternes, this is the reliable Mercedes sedan. It's honeyed, viscous and rich in apricots and honeysuckle. A very good vintage from a very good chateau that gives people a sense of what Sauternes is all about without breaking the bank.""

"Darker golden apple juice in color. Spiced nose of apricot, honey butter, cinnamon graham cracker, saffron. In the mouth, it's very pungent; with a very pronounced flavor of metallic saffron. Ripe and intense botrytis apricot, fig, honey butter, caramel, tobacco spice, petrol. Creamy with vanilla oak, and good spice; but needs time to intigrate that metallicness. Hard to drink right now. 88-93+pts"
