"Color: deep; Nose: fragrant; Aromas: black berry; Sweetness: dry; Body: firm; Finish: medium; Overall: elegant; Much better than the last bottle we had. Considerable improvement. Lush dark berry flavors. Enjoyable tannins. Elegant drinker, although I won't pay this much for it again."

"I’m not sure Howell Mountain is the best place for Merlot, because the dry, rugged terrain imparts strong tannins that seem weird in this supposedly gentle red variety. This 100% Merlot has big cherry, blackberry, cocoa and sweet new oak flavors wrapped in a firmly astringent, sandpapery texture. Decanting will help. So will a rich, fatty steak."
