"Carlo Hauner, the recently deceased and greatest proponent and producer of this wine, said the best way to drink this wine is out of the navel of a beautiful young woman! Well perhaps poetic, and I haven't seen this in a Riedel glass yet, but this is a wine that takes no prisoners! Unbelievably vibrant aromatics of sandalwood, dried pineapple, mango and I could go on too long with more. Not sticky or overly sweet just enticingly lively on the palate, not ponderous but persuasive, not powerful but pensive. the perfect wine for fresh fruits, flaky pastry or perhaps just by itself. Lipari is a volcanic island off the north coast of Sicily in the Aeolian chain whose neighbor Stromboli is perhaps most famous, thank you Ingrid Bergman. An added note the Colosi family who produces this wine has had a son marry Carlo Hauner's daughter, I wonder..... no don't go there."
