"Interestingly, I preferred the less expensive 2001 Merlot Columbia Valley. Containing 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, this offering exhibits a nose of cassis, blackberries, licorice and asphalt. There are 4,800 cases of this lush, concentrated, medium to full bodied wine. Its broad-shouldered personality coats the palate with rich layers of juicy red cherries, blackberries, tar, and spicy licorice."
