92 points "The 2003 Barolo Pajana opens with extraordinary aromatics. Sweet and long, it reveals intense layers of ripe dark cherries, chocolate, spices and menthol in a powerful, authoritative style. It is a terrific effort in this vintage, and should mature faster than the Ciabot Mentin Ginestra. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2018." Best 2009-2018

95 points "95 points Wine Spectator: "Aromas of blackberry, plum skin and hints of cut wood. Full-bodied, chewy and very rich, with lots of tannins, French oak and fruit. This is dense and concentrated. Layered. Needs time. Best after 2012." (06/08) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Clerico's 2004 Barolo Pajana is an explosive wine loaded with layers of deeply spiced dark fruit. It is a notably pure, focused version of this wine that is totally compelling for its overall balance. The south-facing Pajana vineyard tends to give a more fruit-driven style of Barolo but the 2004 is a beautifully complete wine. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2024." (12/07) 93 points Stephen Tanzer: "Deep, saturated red. Wonderfully deep aromas of raspberry, plum, mocha, caramel and graphite, with a primary grapey character. Lush, sweet and remarkably deep, with penetrating, powerful flavors of raspberry, currant, minerals and chocolate and explosive inner-mouth perfume. Complicating notes of smoke and truffle. A very rich yet elegant example of the 2004 vintage, finishing with sweet tannins and excellent thrust. Pajana is a south-facing vineyard planted on sandy soil, and is normally picked before Ginestra." "
