"Parker rated the 1990 100 points - I thought the 1990 Tokay Clos Windsbuhl VT to be perfect. The awesome nose of minerals, honeyed fruits, and exotic spices is followed by a wine with unbelievable masses of fruit intertwined with crisp acidity, full body, huge quantities of glycerin, and a spectacularly long, zesty finish that lasts for over a minute. It should keep for at least two decades.
Given the sheer power and nectar-like qualities of the 1990 late-harvest wines of Alsace, readers will be amazed by their riveting aromatic and flavor intensity. They are massive yet extraordinarily well-balanced. A question I frequently am asked is how does one serve a Vendange Tardive wine? They are best served prior to a meal as an aperitif, or at the end of a meal - alone!
