"(52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot) The colour is as dense as heck. At first the fragrant aromas are enhanced by oak but give the wine a good swirl and the aroma becomes more leathery. In the mouth there is first a baked plum flavour then quite hard tannins together with the leathery character of merlot dominating. There's a cigar-like smokiness and some meatiness but as the wine opens up in the glass the flavours become more fragrant with a raspberry and plum fruit spectrum on the smoky finish. It's a meal of a wine with the density of the texture. Aimed to be made in the mould of Coleraine but in a more accessible style, today I find it not as accessible as the wine it tries to imitate - it simply needs more time. 13.0% alcohol"
