94 points "(100% cabernet sauvignon): Dark ruby-red. Very pure nose is dominated by kirsch, crushed rock and licorice pastille. Rich and chewy but a bit youthfully unforthcoming, showing a saline quality to the classic cassis, black cherry and mineral cabernet flavors. More deeply fruity than the LMV Salon even if it's more backward today. Finishes with huge, palate-dusting, horizontal tannins and superb persistence, with the gravelly, rocky character repeating on the aftertaste. 94(+?) points"

96 points "Made from 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot (550 cases), the prodigious 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Solari Reserve is an opaque purple-colored, multidimensional wine displaying silky sweet tannin along with copious quantities of blackberry, creme de cassis, crushed rock, licorice and camphor characteristics. Powerful yet elegant with layers of depth, this is a wine of great nuance, complexity and nobility. A dead-ringer for the compelling 2007, the 2008 should drink well for 20-25 years or more." 94 points "The prodigious 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Solari Reserve(a 525-case cuvee of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot) is a gorgeous wine. The 2006 blends hadn't been made, hence weren't tasted, but this 2005, which is in bottle, has a dense purple color and a glorious nose of graphite, creme de cassis, tar, and hints of spicy, subtle toast. The wine is dense, medium to full-bodied, with impressive purity, texture, and length (45-50 second for sure). This is a beauty of elegance and substance that should be at its best between 2012 and 2030." Best 2012-2030
