"The 2001 Partal I is a blend of 60% Monastrell, 15% Syrah, 10% Tempranillo, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Merlot aged 12 months in French oak. Dark ruby-colored, it offers up an excellent nose of forest floor, mushroom, pepper, black currant, and blackberry. Full-bodied, the wine has gobs of fruit, well-concealed ripe tannin, and is seamless on the palate. Enjoy this forward wine over the next 4-6 years."

"Dark red. Pungent raspberry and cherry liqueur on the nose, with dark chocolate and smoked meat adding complexity. Juicy red fruit flavors are energized by racy acidity and gently supported by dusty tannins. Picks up a lively mineral quality on the long, juicy finish. This has really impressive vibrancy for its age."
