"Dark red. Powerful, very ripe aromas of cherry, raspberry preserves and smoked meat. Lush, supple, almost roasted red berry flavors hint at surmaturite, with a building spice note and a suggestion of garrigue on the finish."

"This may be the finest Chante Perdrix produced since the brilliant 1989 (which, while fully mature, continues to evolve beautifully). An exotic perfume of freshly ground pepper, seaweed, incense, Chinese black tea, plums, and sweet fruit soars from the glass of this aromatic, complex wine. A concoction of savory, meaty, raspberry and cherry characteristics is followed by a dense, full-bodied yet elegant Chateauneuf with a heady, sexy, alcoholic finish. Already glorious to drink, with low acidity and an irresistible forward character, it should evolve for another decade. Anticipated maturity: now-2011. (90-93)"

"Ultrathick and smooth, here is a ripe, rich and flavorful Châteauneuf. Round, with grilled nuts, plum, kirschlike and smoke character. A bit hot, but this full-bodied wine is delicious. Drink now through 2010. (PM)
