90 points "This is one of the prettiest Pinot Grigios I have sampled over the past year. 2012 will go down as an incredible vintage and indeed this wine has lush and generous fruit. It also has wonderful pedigree as it is from Laird Family Estate’s Cold Creek Ranch Vineyard in Carneros. Pinot Grigio is well situated at this vineyard site with the warm days and the distinct cooling breeze from the Bay with a nice drop in night-time temperatures. It was made by Laird Family Estate’s highly regarded winemaker Judy Matulich-Weitz, who launched the Gustave Neibaum Estate Vineyard designated wines where she was trained by the legendary Andre Tchelistcheff. After that, she was the winemaker at several top wineries including Robert Stemmler winery, and now specializes in producing small single vineyard distinctive wines for Laird Family Estate. Nuanced aromas of ripe tropical fruits including pear, and lychee with touches of lemon cream. A refreshing palate of white peaches, caramel, honeysuckle, melon and lychee with touches of apricot, and white flowers. Quite complex for Pinot Grigio with a pleasant mouth feel and a clean finish. The perfect accompaniment for foods like trout in a wine sauce, coquilles St. Jacques, Snapper meuniere, shrimp scampi; Gruyere, Munster or Jarlsberg cheese, or as an aperitif." Best 2013-2015
