95 points "The 2006 Barolo Bric del Fiasc is a dramatic, sweeping wine that bursts onto the palate in a powerful expression of this Castiglione Falletto vineyard. Dark red fruits, smoke and grilled herbs are just some of the nuances that come to life as this imposing, focused Barolo opens up in the glass. Today, the wine is a touch austere, but in a few years the structure should fill out nicely. It is impossible to ignore the sheer pedigree and class here. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2031. 91 points "Slightly herbal or minty on the nose, but the palate is all that we’ve come to expect from Scavino, with wonderfully pure red fruits and subtle notes of mineral and sous bois for complexity. Tar and dark chocolate wrap up the supple finish. Drink 2005–2020. Score: 91. April 02, 2004." Best 2005-2020

94 points "Good deep red. Aromatic nose combines floral, tobacco and smoky elements. Sweet red fruit and floral flavors framed and lifted by harmonious acidity. An ample Barolo with clarity and class, not to mention superb balance. Finishes with perfectly buffered tannins and excellent persistence. ST The 1998 Bric del Fiasc, from a vintage many have overlooked, is packed with heady notes of ripe dark fruit, licorice, mineral and sweet toasted oak flavors in a style that is utterly captivating. It is another full-bodied, powerful Bric del Fiasc. It too looks to be long-lived." Best 2008-2018
